EUR 1.3 mln ecoduct to be built on Parnu highway

An ecoduct costing 1.3 million euros is being built on the 35th kilometer of the Tallinn-Parnu highway, the construction of the bridge enabling the safe crossing of wild animals was started in May and is scheduled to be finished in December, the regional newspaper Harju Elu said, cites LETA/BNS.

"The ecoduct is in a planned parabolic shape, with the width on top amounting to 50 meters and width from the sides totaling 65 meters. The height of the ecoduct on top of the plank fence to be built from the road level is 12.3 meters," Martti Lilleste, project manager at the construction department of the Northern region of the Road Administration, said.


"We do not wish to separately disclose the cost of the ecoduct. The cost of the whole object along with VAT and the customer's reserve for the performance of unforeseen work is 13.1 million euros," Ain Pahkel, road construction director at Nordecon AS, the listed Estonian construction carrying out the construction, said.


The whole object means the reconstruction of the 9-kilometer Aasmae-Kohatu highway section into a 2+1 lane road with overtaking and U-turn areas.
