Orlen doesn't ask for higher discounts from Lithuanian Railways

BC, Vilnius, 24.05.2016.Print version
Polish-capital oil refining company Orlen Lietuva has not requested higher discounts from the state-run Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai (Lithuanian Railways, or LG) than those granted to other clients and maintains it does not owe 30 million euros, 15min.lt news portal said, cites LETA/BNS.

"Orlen Lietuva is not asking for higher discounts. Orlen Lietuva wants Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai to comply to the terms and conditions of the contract. The problem is that Orlen Lietuva and Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai have different interpretations of the conditions. This is why we held negotiations to come up with a solution. (…) We think that we do not owe anything. Disputes in this respect is the reason why we turned to the arbitrate. Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai maintains that we have failed to pay the outstanding sum in full, and they cite the increase in the infrastructure fee payable by the carrier," Orlen Lietuva's CEO Ireneusz Fafara told the news portal.

Orlen Lietuva has reportedly failed to comply with the freight transportation contract, which was signed in 2009 and would remain in effect until 2024, and owed approximately 30 million euros to the railway company. Dailydka has earlier admitted that it was difficult to hold talks with the Poles and reminded that the previous attempt to hold negotiations, which was made several years ago, ended in failure.
