BC, Vilnius, 18.05.2016.Print version
State-run Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai (Lithuanian Railways, or LG) has failed to reach an amicable deal with the Lithuanian unit of Poland's biggest oil group Orlen to end their protracted dispute over a freight tariffs, Lietuvos Rytas daily said on May 18th, cites LETA/BNS.

"The deadline of the negotiations and the Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai's proposal for amicable deal has passed. Therefore, from now on everything will continue in institutions solving conflicts. The current contract remains in effect until 2024, unless it is revised or terminated," LG CEO Stasys Dailydka told the daily.

Orlen Lietuva has reportedly failed to comply with the freight transportation contract, which was signed in 2009 and would remain in effect until 2024, and owed approximately 30 million euros to the railway company. Dailydka has earlier admitted that it was difficult to hold talks with the Poles and reminded that the previous attempt to hold negotiations, which was made several years ago, ended in failure.

Meanwhile, Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai is seeking around 8.4 million euros from Orlen Lietuva in compensation for unpaid infrastructure fees.
