Estonian Omniva to open its parcel terminal network to all logistics companies

BC, Tallinn, 26.04.2016.Print version
Estonia's state-owned logistics company Omniva (formerly known as Eesti Post) is to open its network of parcel terminals in the Baltic countries also for its other partners, due to which logistics companies would be able to use Omniva's parcel terminals for sending their packages, informs LETA/BNS.

"Omniva has the biggest network of parcel terminals in the Baltic countries and we see that opening it for other partners will help the whole rising e-commerce sector grow," head of Omniva’s parcel business unit Sten Argos said in a press release.

"Although sharing our network might at first seem as giving up our competitive edge, we as a company believe in the constructive force of cooperation, not building infrastructures that compete with each other. Therefore we decided to take the first step toward advancing cooperation," he added.

According to Argos, opening the network of parcel terminals requires software development works, so that using the terminals would be fast and easy for different logistics companies as well as the people who receive parcels. The company is already in talks with first companies interested in using the network.

Omniva with its 205 parcel terminals is the biggest parcel terminal network in Estonia as well as the Baltic countries. By this fall the number is to increase by 57 terminals.

BNS reported on Monday that the postal technology company Cleveron based in Viljandi, southern Estonia is to establish a subsidiary, Collect.Net, which is to set up Estonia's third parcel delivery company and initially install 10 automated parcel terminals across Estonia.
