Riigikogu committee of Tallinn Port to keep putting pressure on ex-managers
Kiil, Kaljurand and Seli have all on repeated occasions ignored the investigation committee's invitations to offer their explanations to the committee.
"I've met with the representatives for Kiil and Kaljurand and asked them to respond to my letter and let me know when they are ready to come here," the chairman of the committee, Artur Talvik, told BNS.
The Free Party MP said he has explained in great detail why the men should appear before the committee and what will happen if they don't. "If they don't come, they will be tagged negatively in the public's mind. Hence we will go on putting pressure on them in the committee and we hope that this matter will be solved," Talvik said.
The Riigikogu Committee of Investigation to Identify Possible Corruption Risks at Port of Tallinn, set up in October 2015, was initially tasked with submitting the final report on its work to the Riigikogu and the public by May 1, 2016 at the latest. On Tuesday, the parliament extended the deadline of submitting the report until June 16, 2016.
The purpose of the committee of investigation is to ascertain what the alleged corruption in Port of Tallinn consisted of, what were the factors that contributed to it and what impact this had on the management and functioning of the company and the interests of the state as its owner.
