The Union wants to start collective agreement talks with Transiidikeskuse

BC, Tallinn, 12.11.2015.Print version
The Estonian Seamen's Independent Union (EMSA) proposed to Transiidikeskusee AS launching collective agreement talks, reports LETA.

According to EMSA the agreement draft has two important conditions: monthly salaries should rise as of next year by at least 200 euros and seven additional paid vacation days should be given to workers.

According to the employees' representatives, one of whom has been groundlessly fired, the salaries of the employees of Transiidikeskusee AS have not been raised since 2008. At the same time the company's owners have generously remunerated two members of the board whose monthly income has been 25,000-35,000 euros in the past few years.

"Today we even don't have the right to stage a strike in defense of the employee representative, because the law says that a strike can be held only in the event of a collective labor dispute and a collective labor dispute is a dispute that arises in the context of a collective agreement," chairman of the EMSA board Juri Lember told BNS last week.

The relations between EMSA and Transiidikeskuse have been tense for quite some time and both sides have taken legal action against one another.
