It has been reported recently that vessel Romuva, owned by Lietuvos Juru Laivininkyste (Lithuanian Shipping Company), was prohibited from leaving Italian port due to debt. It transpired afterwards that two more ships of the company, Raguva and Voruta, suffered a similar fate, reports LETA/ELTA, referring to Klaipeda.

Lithuanian ship Raguva, with over 20 crewmembers, was detained in Senegal's capital Dakar.

"We hope that within a week the ship will continue sailing on the planned route. It was travelling from Dakar to Poland but could not continue the journey because of debts. Although our ships are in good working order and can do the job, yet they are delayed due to debts," said Valerijus Adamonis, Interim Head of Lietuvos Juru Laivininkyste.

According to him, the vessels were detained because of debts for services and fuel. "We have paid wages to our employees. Although on-shore staff has not been paid yet, but we hope the situation will level itself soon. Our seafarers have received wages, including the crew of Romuva," said the director.
