Estonian Omniva sells post office buildings

Estonian state-owned postal company Omniva, formerly known as Eesti Post, has put on sale the majority of its post offices buildings, LETA/Virumaa Teataja reports.

Sale of the properties does not necessarily mean that the post office located there ceases its activity. If necessary, Omniva enters into lease agreements with the new owners or the post office finds a new location.

"As a result, we can more flexibly find rooms to suit our needs and thereby improve the working conditions of our employees," said Omniva's communications specialist Erki Varma.

According to him, the company has recently put its real estate in many places in Estonia on sale, to focus more on its core business and give up real estate management.

Omniva owns at present 48 real estate properties in Estonia, of which 39 are currently on sale. While most of the buildings are used as post offices, they also have a considerable number of tenants who offer services on space belonging to Omniva. "Thus Omniva has become a sort of real estate services company who needs to communicate with tenants on daily basis and has obligations for them," says Varma.

He said that Omniva's mission is to offer the best solutions in postal, logistics and information logistics spheres.
