Investment plans of Estonian SMEs have considerably contracted

The share of companies among Estonian small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) planning investments for the year 2015 has declined significantly, SEB's study "Business Barometer 2015" indicates, LETA/Delfi reports.

While last year, 42% of the polled small and medium-sized enterprises planned an investment of at least 30,000 euros, this year only 16% do.

41% of the companies said that they plan an investment, without stating the amount; that is 20%age points less than last year.

The most active in making investments are the Ida-Virumaa County and Järvamaa County, where every fifth company is planning investments and the willingness is the smallest in Valgamaa County, where one in ten are willing to make an investment.

The transport and logistics sector, which otherwise is looking to 2015 with pessimism, is most active in planning investments where 55% of those surveyed plan an investment. This might be explained with the fact that in the sector, vehicle fleet needs to be constantly renewed. The willingness is higher than average also traditionally in agriculture, and industrial and energy sectors.
