Russia to impose imports restrictions on 11 Estonian companies

BC, Tallinn, 27.12.2013.Print version
Russia announced that it has plans to impose imports restrictions on the dairy products of five Estonian companies and on products of six Estonian fisheries industries, writes LETA/National Broadcasting.

Head of Russia’s Federal Service of Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision Sergey Dankvert stated in a statement to Interfax that because of failure to comply with some veterinary and sanitary standards, restrictions will be imposed on products made by 11 Estonian companies.

According to him, the decision was made after inspections carried out in Estonian dairy and fish industries.

The Russian official added that Russia has sent the initial report on the results of the inspections to Estonia and is now expecting a response.

Thus far, the Estonian Veterinary and Food Board has no official information on the planned imports restrictions.

In October this year Russia imposed imports ban on Lithuanian dairy products.
