Estonia to digitise the system for sick leave certificates

Print versionThe Minister of Social Affairs Taavi Rõivas signed the draft law that would make issuing certificates for incapacity for work and submission of them to employers and to the Health Insurance Fund electronic, writes LETA/Delfi.ee.

Rõivas noted that electronic system for issuing and forwarding certificates for incapacity for work will expedite transferring sick leave benefits for people.
“The electronic certificates for incapacity for work will also reduce costs for doctors and midwives incurred by issuing the certificates on paper, relieve employers from the obligation to submit certificates on paper to the Health Insurance Fund and thus reduce postage and time costs in submitting date,” he added.
