Estonia to limit number of cigarettes packs brought from neighboring Russia

Print versionEstonia might limit the number of imported packs of cigarettes up to two units per week for travelers crossing the Russia-Estonia border, the Estonian national broadcasting corporation ERR said in a statement.

Tax and Customs Board customs management department head Urmas Koidu said that currently preliminary inter-institutional discussions on this matter are under way, and the changes would come into force as of next year, writes LETA.
Corresponding amendment to the Estonian law is scheduled to be sent to the Parliament in autumn next year.
At present, import of excise goods is limited as per overnight.
According to expectations of the Estonian Tax and Customs Board, new regulations would allow to increasing the incoming funds by ten million euros.
