Denmark and other countries with the coronavirus detected in mink farms, Health Minister Aurelijus Veryga says, cites LETA/BNS.

"A proposal will be filed to introduce mandatory 14-day isolation for arrivals from Denmark, and similar isolation can be proposed for arrivals from other countries with similar problems, i.e., Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and Sweden, if the existing information changes by tomorrow and it is confirmed that similar problems with the spread in specifically mink farms is in other countries as well," Veryga told a press conference on Tuesday.

The minister also said he had discussed the situation with the Danish ambassador and also received information from the World Health Organization that the mutated virus could have spread in mink farms in other countries.

The world's largest mink fur producer, Denmark said last Wednesday it would cull all minks in the country after a mutated version of the novel coronavirus was found. At least 12 people have contracted the mink-mutated virus.

Scientists fear the mutated virus could render the vaccines now under development partially or fully invalid. Lithuanian institutions say they are closely watching the situation.
