Latvian wooden furniture exports down 1.7% in ten months

During the first ten months of this year, Latvian exports of wooden furniture contracted 1.7% from the same period a year ago, with most of the Latvian-made furniture sold in Denmark, according to information released by the Agriculture Ministry.

In January-October 2018, Latvia shipped EUR 135.625 mln worth of wooden furniture to foreign countries. Of this amount EUR 32.045 mln worth of furniture, or 23.6% of total amount, was exported to Denmark, which is a 26.9% increase against the ten months of 2017.


Wooden furniture exports to Germany fell 13.8% y-o-y to EUR 17.257 mln, or 12.7% of total amount, and exports to Sweden increased 20.1% to EUR 13.634 mln, or 10.1%.


Meanwhile, Latvian imports of wooden furniture declined 18 % y-o-y to EUR 55.989 mln in the first ten months of this year.


Poland supplied EUR 10.93 mln worth of wooden furniture in January-October, or 19.5% of total amount, down 5.7% from the first ten months of last year.


Wooden furniture imports from Italy fell 28.8% to EUR 7.644 mln, and imports from Lithuania shrank 34.5% y-o-y to EUR 7.581 mln.


In the first ten months of 2017, Latvia exported EUR 137.972 mln worth of wooden furniture and imported wooden furniture for EUR 68.282 mln.
