The Tallinn city government has initiated a procedure to prepare a detailed plan for the plots at Narva Road 129 and 129b and nearby areas where the city's new main hospital complex is about to be built, informs LETA/BNS.

"When the new hospital complex is completed the city's existing central hospitals will be merged into Tallinn Hospital," Deputy Mayor Merike Martinson said in a press release.

The new hospital would be established as a result of a merger of the East Tallinn Central Hospital and the West Tallinn Central Hospital.

The area covered by the detailed plan is 27.52 hectares and the new hospital complex situated in the eastern borough of Lasnamae would consist of buildings up to eight stories high.

According to tentative estimates the total enclosed area of Tallinn Hospital would be from 100,000 to 120,000 square meters and the total project cost 400 million euros, of which construction costs would make up 200-240 million euros, medical equipment and interior furnishings approximately 100 million euros and external infrastructure, design, project management and other expenses approximately 60 million euros.
