The Latvian fish processing company Brivais vilnis informs that despite the temporary ban of the Russian Federation on the export of fish products to the Russian Federation, the company will not stop its activities, reports LETA.

As from the beginning of this year, the volume of production that was previously exported to Russia, had fallen to 15% of the company's production. The created real damages are not so significant for the company to think about its termination, Brivais vilnis CEO Arnolds Babris indicates.

The company will resume its work in August 2015. At the moment, Brivais vilnis is searching for alternative product markets in other countries that will successfully solve the arisen problems. Next week, the company's board is going to China to agree on specific product supplies.

As reported, Rosselhoznadzor announced Wednesday that as of June 4, fish and fish product imports from Latvia and Estonia are banned.

At the end of May 2015, Rosselhoznadzor experts carried out inspections at five Latvian and four Estonian fish processing companies, which mainly deal with production of sprats.

"The inspectors were very concerned about what they saw, – it was impossible to recognize the security system control of the production as efficient," the board's representative Ivan Ponomarev said.

At the end of March, Rosselhoznadzor also detected excessive amounts of benzopyrene in Latvian sprats.
