Russia finds excessive benzopyrene amounts in Latvian sprats

Print versionThe Federal Veterinary and Phytosanitary Inspection Service of Russia has detected excessive benzopyrene levels in Latvia-produced sprats, according to the service's announcement, cites LETA/RBC.

The service says that the shipment of 2.8 ton cargo of sprats was stored in a warehouse in Rzhev, near Moscow, and excessive benzopyrene level in the sprats was found following a scheduled inspection.
The service has ordered additional inspections, the sprats have been suspended from retail sales in Russia.
