Corruption Prevention Bureau detain prosecutor of Jelgava prosecution office

The Corruption Prevention Bureau (KNAB) today detained a prosecutor of Jelgava prosection office, according to the information available to LETA.
Chief prosecutor of Jelgava prosection office, Vida Kravcova, confirmed that KNAB this month had conducted a search at the Jelgava prosecution office.
Kravcova was on vacation when the KNAB investigators raided the prosecutor's office, so she was not informed about the reasons for the search. The chief prosecutor said she learned about the search from her colleagues.
For now, the Jelgava prosecutor's office continues work as usual.
KNAB confirmed to LETA that a criminal procedure has been launched, involving officials of the prosecution office. KNAB will not disclose further information for the time being so as not to impede the investigation.
