Revenue Service carrying out searches at Football Federation's offices
"We confirm that the Revenue Service's representatives have been carrying out procedural activities at the Football Federation's offices today. We will release further comment as soon as appropriate," said the federation.
On the other hand, the Revenue Service's representative Andrejs Vaivars told LETA that the Revenue Service's Tax and Customs Police had launched a criminal case against a Latvian public organization for violations of regulations on accounting and statistical information, tax evasion and money laundering.
On Thursday, the Tax and Customs Police carried out several searches as part of the criminal procedure, said Vaivars.
On April 1, the Revenue Service stripped the Football Federation of a public benefit organization's status. The service's decision came into force on April 8.
Vaivars told LETA last week that the Revenue Service took the decision because of serious violations ascertained at the Football Federation.
