Straujuma sees great potential in cooperation between Latvia and Kazakhstan

On October 8th, Prime Minister Laimdota Straujuma held a meeting with Mayor of Astana Adilbek Dzhaksybekov, to discuss bilateral relations between the two countries, LETA was informed by the State Chancellery's communications department.

The prime minister praised the bilateral relations between Latvia and Kazakhstan that have traditionally been very good. Both parties expressed satisfaction with the large number of Kazakh students studying in Latvia.

 

During the meeting, both sides also discussed the potential for further economic relations between Latvia and Kazakhstan, including the possibility to further expand cooperation in the field of transit.

 

In the conversation, Straujuma also highlighted the need to completely restore the exports of the Latvian fish products to Kazakhstan, which Kazakhstan recently banned.
