On April 14, the border guards responded to a movement detector signal, and went to check the specific area. They found footprints and items left behind by several persons. Reinforcements were called up, and with the help of a canine tracker, the trespassers were intercepted. Heretofore having crossed into ten countries, the Vietnamese and their smuggler – a Russian citizen – were finally apprehended in a swamp about 500 meters from the state border.

On April 10, seven Vietnamese citizens and two smugglers from Russia were detained, also about 500 meters from the state border.

Meanwhile, on March 29, the border guards discovered the footprints of several persons in Pasiene County. They found a group of eight Vietnamese citizens and their smuggler – a Russian citizen – in an abandoned house.

On April 1, about ten kilometers from the Latvia-Lithuania border, the border guards detained a Latvian citizen, born 1986, attempting to smuggle in six Vietnamese citizens.
