Latvian Investment and Development Agency receives World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies award

Latvian Investment and Development Agency (LIDA) has received an award for promoting investment-friendly state policy at the annual Investment Conference of the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA), which took place in Accra, Ghana, as LETA was informed by the LIDA Marketing and Communications Department.

LIDA received international appreciation for the close cooperation with the Foreign Investor Council in Latvia and the activities undertaken to improve the business environment.

 

LIDA action plan in abolishing various administrative obstacles, was approved as successful – in nine years time 150 out of 193 obstacles listed have been resolved.

 

Along with Latvia, also the investment promotion institutions from Afghanistan and Mauritius received the award.

 

This is the second award that LIDA receives from WAIPA. In 2005, WAIPA named LIDA the best investment-attracting agency in the Central and Eastern Europe.

 

WAIPA is founded in 1995 and unites 206 investment promotion agencies from 152 countries. WAIPA ensures experience exchange between its members and organizes international conferences on the current topics of the global economy.
