On Friday, taking part in the opening of the KTU (Kaunas Technology University) Science and Technology Centre and Technological Business Incubator, Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius stressed that funds properly invested in science and technologies always bring great returns, informs LETA/ELTA.

He said that he expected that the possibility to perform one's professional practice at the new modern laboratories, supervised by acknowledged scientists and researchers, will be an important reason for young and talented high-fliers to choose studies in Lithuania.

"Studies in Lithuania have revealed that research and technology funding made the greatest impact on the development of competitive economy during the previous financial period of the European Union. Which in turn helped businesses to get engaged more actively in biotechnology, IT and communications technology, future energy and other advanced areas," the PM said.

Butkevicius also stressed that the Government will continue to increase support to research projects and experimental development, paying particular attention to the energy efficiency projects.
