Cabot president praises qualified workforce and well-developed IT services in Latvia

The U.S. chemicals company Cabot Corporation (Cabot) made the decision to open its regional business center in Riga taking into consideration the availability of qualified personnel with good command of foreign languages, and the well-developed IT sector in Latvia, as Cabot President and CEO Patrick Prevost said during the center's opening ceremony on Tuesday, cites LETA/Nozare.lv.

The opening of the business services center in Riga is an important step in the development of Cabot, said Prevost. The company's success depends on people it can hire, and Prevost considers the team of local experts, built over a period of four months, to be very impressive.

 

Prevost also thanked the Latvian government and Latvian Investment and Development Agency for making Cabot feel very welcome in Latvia. He went on to say that he was looking forward to many successful years of business in Latvia.

 

Cabot business center manages and runs the accounting, loan and collection, payment account, procurement, customer service, transport, data management, IT, and staffing operations of the company's operations in Europe, Middle East and Africa region.

 

The company has concluded its staffing policy in Riga, and it is very pleased that the new staff members are full of enthusiasm and eager to work for the company, said "Cabot Latvia" Director Heather Ellis, adding she was certain that the company's business center in Riga would become the best Cabot business center in not only Europe but the entire world.

 

Cabot President for Europe, Middle East and Africa region, Nicholas Cross said that the Riga project had been implemented within a very short period of time, and praised contribution to the Cabot services center in Leuven, Belgium, to the project. The Riga team will help Cabot consolidate its leading positions in the specialty chemicals sector, he said.

 

As reported, Cabot Corporation's turnover last year was over EUR 3.5 billion, and company decided to open its regional business center in Riga after consulting with the Latvian Investment and Development Agency and the Latvian government.

 

Cabot, established in 1882, is one of the leading specialty chemicals companies in the world. It has production facilities in 21 countries and employs a total of about 4,600 people.
