First "AirDog" drones expected already in November

The first "AirDog" auto-follow action sports drones from Latvia could become available already in November 2014, founder Helico Aerospace Industries Edgars Rozentals said in an interview with the business portal Nozare.lv, cites LETA.

The first production round could be concluded in November. All the necessary parts will be shipped to the Hanzas elektronika factory, where the drones will be assembled, tested, and shipped to the Helico Aerospace Industries warehouse.

Rozentals did not reveal the total costs of production, indicating that the initial sum collected using the crowd-funding platform "Kickstarter" would not be able to cover the entire production costs.

Current estimations indicate that the factory will provide more than 2,000, as well as additional units for retail needs and emergency situations.

Taking into account that the product is extremely complicated and innovative, it is difficult to estimate whether it will require any rapid changes. Therefore, Rozentals does not rush with any larger numbers in regard to production volumes. "The United One of the American manufacturers of the auto-follow drone confirmed that these are the most complicated consumer goods that could be produced. "AirDog" involves aviation, mechanics, electronics, and sensors that require calibration. Furthermore, it also has to fly! The production process involves a huge potential for mistakes, therefore, we want to keep our eye on it. We will manufacture the drones in Hanza elektronika as long as the demand is satisfied. It is hard to say how the process will evolve in the future, however, the current costs are competitive," Rozentals explained.
