airlinetrends.com, an independent aviation industry and consumer trends research agency, has ranked airBaltic’s meal pre-order as one of the best airline service innovations in 2013, informed BC vice president of corporate communications at airBaltic Janis Vanags.

Martin Sedlacky, Chief Operations Officer of airBaltic: “I am delighted that airBaltic was recognised prominently along with product and service innovations by such airlines as Delta, British Airways, Qantas, Air Canada, Norwegian. This is an excellent impetus for us to keep working on other improvements in the future.”

Last year airBaltic introduced a novel food pre-ordering system that allows travellers to customize their in-flight meal after they have booked their seat. Customers select their preferred items onto their virtual airline tray and create their own inflight meal. Now travellers are fully in control when customising their meals based on their preference, dietary, medical, religious considerations.

Passengers can choose from a variety of more than 70 pre order meal options onto their virtual tray, including vegetable risotto, fish souvlaki, teriyaki salmon, grilled pork or chicken breast, served with one of nine salads and one of nine types of dessert, and a drink of choice. airBaltic customers can now order their inflight meal immediately upon completing their flight booking, or any other time no later than 48 hours before departure.

airBaltic serves 60 destinations from its home base in Riga, Latvia. airBaltic offers convenient connections via North Hub Riga to its network spanning Europe, Scandinavia, Russia, CIS and the Middle East.
