Flybe and Estonian ministry discussed the provision of flight services

BC, Tallinn, 13.02.2013.Print version
The British airline Flybe confirmed that it has discussed the possible terms and feasibility of providing flight services to and from Estonia in partnership with the Estonian Government, writes LETA/Eesti Päevaleht.

However, Flybe noted that no clear results have been achieved in the talks, nor has the possible time-frame been set for making any decisions on this.

Advisor at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications Rasmus Ruuda also confirmed talks on this issue between Flybe and Estonian representatives, but refused to disclose any details.

He emphasised that although various options have been analysed, the primary objective for the ministry is to restructure Estonian Air and put the national carrier back on its feet.

The daily newspaper stated that a partnership between the Estonian Government and Flybe would mean that Estonian Air would be declared bankrupt and then a new joint venture with the British enterprise would be established. According to information available to Eesti Päevaleht, minister of economic affairs and communications Juhan Parts as well as the chairman of the supervisory board of Estonian Air Erkki Raasuke support the option of a future partnership with Flybe.

The Government cabinet will discuss the subject of Estonian Air on Thursday.
