Estonian companies Roofit Solar Energy, Estanc AS and Reverse Resources have been awarded silver medals at the 2020-2021 European Business Awards for the Environment (EBAE), informs LETA/BNS.

Roofit Solar Energy was awarded silver in the category of environment friendly product, Estanc in the category of environmental management and Reverse Resources in the category of international business cooperation, spokespeople for the Estonian Ministry of the Environment said.

"That three companies made it to the finals of the European Business Awards for the Environment is already a big achievement, and winning silver medals even more so," Minister of the Environment Rene Kokk said.

"Definitely participation in this competition gives self-confidence and showcases Estonia as an innovative and environmentally friendly country," the minister added.

European Business Awards for the Environment are awarded by the European Commission every two years since 1987. In addition to winners of individual categories, the jury acknowledged 10 silver medalists and 12 rising stars.

Roofit Solar Energy, an Estonian cleantech company, has built a "2in1" solution that looks like a traditional steel roof, but produces solar electricity and reduces the CO2 footprint of houses.

Estanc AS is a family-run steel folding company, focusing on integrating environmental processes into their management with emphasis on involving their staff and promoting diversity.

Reverse Resources is a B2B collaboration platform for the efficient and transparent management and recycling of textile waste. It works in the textile sector in India and Bangladesh, converting textile waste into renewed textiles.
