State of emergency in Latvia to be extended to June 9, restrictions eased

The state of emergency in relation with the Covid-19 pandemic will be extended to June 9, while a number of restrictions will be eased, according to the information at the disposal of LETA.

      Along with the decision to extend the state of emergency, the government decided to revise a number of restriction related with Covid-19.


      After May 12, people will be allowed to gather indoors and outdoors for both public and private events, but their number should not exceed 25. Indoor events should not last longer than three hours, while there are no limits for outdoor events.


      People using public transport will be required to cover their mouth and nose.


      Culture, entertainment, sports and other facilities will be allowed to be open from 7 a.m. until midnight.


      Sports events will be allowed if a number of precautionary measures will be followed.


      The government also decided to allow to organize tourism services for trips within the Baltic states - Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.


      In order to curb the Covid-19 pandemic, the state of emergency was declared for a time period of March 13 until April 14. Then it was extended to May 12.
