Estonian e-retailer Hansapost has doubled sales

BC, Tallinn , 17.04.2020.Print version
Estonian e-retailer Hansapost has almost doubled monthly sales compared with the same period last year, while it is working on the limit of its capacity just like all other logistics companies and there may be delays with deliveries as a result, reported LETA/BNS.

"The leap in sales took place not immediately after the emergency situation was declared, but with a minor delay at the end of March," Hansapost CEO Taavi Rajur said.

"There's a lot of uncertainty in retail, we do not dare to predict what will happen in a month or a couple of months," the CEO said, describing contactless delivery as an asset of e-commerce.

"The increase in the sale of disinfectants has been immense also at our company and people would also like to buy protective masks, but the latter we have procured to date only for the state and the medical sector, where there is a critical need. When the opportunity opens up, we will try and procure them also for retail, but the market for protective masks is crazy at the moment and we do not wish to put on the market masks whose protection level is very limited," Rajur said.

The most popular product for Hansapost of recent weeks is electric hair trimmer. Based on the statistics of purchases it can be concluded that people have begun to themselves cut and dye their hair and service their car. Also, the sales of several products which usually are not popular among buyers in spring, such as yoga mats, weights for exercise, web cameras and home improvement tools are being bought by e-retail customers at the moment.

In addition, there's unusually big interest for small garden houses and gardening equipment among Hansapost's clients.

Hobby Hall group, of which Hansapost is a member, has annual sales of 80 mln euros.
