Demand for deliveries to the parcel machines of Latvijas Pasts national postal company has jumped since the state of emergency has been declared in Latvia over the Covid-19 crisis, with deliveries to the parcel machines in March jumping 40% against February, the company's representative Gundega Varpa told LETA.

She indicated that postal and other services provided by Latvijas Pasts are in demand also during the state of emergency but that the structure of the most popular services has changed, with demand for parcel machine services rising at an especially steep rate.

"To prevent people from queuing for deliveries from parcel machines, we have introduced a three-day time limit for keeping parcels in the machines, and we urge clients to take out parcels timely, so that they do not accumulate and other clients can receive their parcels as well," Varpa said.

The representative also said that even though the transport restrictions most countries have introduced due to the Covid-19 pandemic have made logistics extremely complicated Latvijas Pasts ensures mail deliveries to practically all countries of the world.

Latvijas Pasts is fully owned by the Latvian state and its basic function is providing the universal postal service.
