eKool eyeing expansion beyond Estonia by end-2018

BC, Tallinn, 16.11.2017.Print version
The eKool web application for students, their parents and schools has set its sights on expanding beyond Estonia and is working on a 269,000-euro project that should help it achieve that goal by the end of 2018, reports LETA/BNS.

Enterprise Estonia (EAS) has provided 121,000 euros to the project.

"We wish that it was possible to easily adapt eKool to whatever foreign market by the end of 2018. We also wish to improve our marketing capability and brand recognition outside Estonia and to prepare necessary marketing materials," eKool AS board member Tanel Keres told BNS.

"The aim of our development project is to ensure the dependability, standardization and scalability of our product and service. Despite our wish to expand, providing the schools of Estonia with a school management system that is as dependable and as consistent with their wishes as possible remains our main mission," he added.

The eKool online school management system has been in operation in Estonia for more than 15 years and has over 200,000 active users.

In the online environment of eKool, teachers enter grades and attendance information, post homework, and evaluate student behavior. They also use it to send messages to parents, students or entire classes.

With the help of round-the-clock access via the internet, parents can see their children's homework assignments, grades, attendance information and teachers' notes, as well as communicate directly with teachers via the system. Students can read their own grades and keep track of what homework has been assigned each day. They also have an option to save their best work in their own personal e-portfolios.
