Ziemelis, partners investing EUR 17 mln in Moscow airport
"Next year we intend to expand the passenger terminal by 10,000 square
meters. We will do this without loans from banks. We plan to expand the
terminal to enable it to handle up to 7 million passengers per year. Then we
will be able to invite one of the bigger airlines. The necessary aggregate
investment is 20-22 million US dollars (EUR 17-18.7 mln). By the way, the
terminal expansion will also add more airplane parking spots – we will
additionally build 15 spots, with investment in the infrastructure totaling at
12 million US dollars (EUR 10.2 mln)," Ziemelis told the daily.
In his words, the airport will also expand its freight terminal, with
construction of a 10,000-square-meter freight terminal already underway in the
additional territory purchased by the airport. The enlargement will raise the
volume of freight handled at the airport to 120,000 tons per year.
Launched in May of 2016, the Zhukovsky Airport, which is the fourth-largest
airport in Moscow, is reportedly operated by Ramport Aero. Some 25% of the company's shares are owned by vehicle
exhibition complex Russia, which is part of the state-run civilian and military
industry production and exports concern Rostec.
The remaining 75% of Ramport Aero's shares are owned by private investors,
including 30% owned by Ziemelis' Avia
Solutions Group quoted in the Warsaw Stock Exchange and the remaining
shares owned by related persons.
