Lithuania's 2016 air passenger growth among EU's biggest

Print versionThe number of air passengers in Lithuania in 2016 rose at one of the EU's fastest rates, figures from the EU statistical office Eurostat showed on Wednesday, cites LETA/BNS.

A total of 4.788 million passengers traveled by air in Lithuania in 2016,
up 13.3% from 2015.
The number of air passengers rose by 4.6% 5.384 million in Latvia and
went up by 2.5% to 2.215 million in Estonia. In the EU-28, the total number of
air passengers increased by 5.9% to 972.7 million.
Vilnius Airport last year ranked 87th among the EU's top airports in terms
of the total number of passengers carried, up from 96th position in 2014. The
number of passengers handled in Vilnius rose by 14.3% year-on-year to 3.811
million.
Riga Airport ranked 64th with passenger numbers up by 4.6% to 5.384
million, and Tallinn Airport was in 118th place with passenger numbers up by
2.5% to 2.215 million.
