Taxify launches in Paris
"Paris is one of the markets with the biggest potential in Europe. We have carefully listened to what drivers and customers need and are offering a more favorable and higher quality alternative to the present market leader," Taxify founder and CEO Markus Villig said in a press release
Taxify takes a commission of 15%, almost half the rates charged by Uber and other competitors. Taxify says lower commission enables it to offer lower fares to customers and higher incomes to drivers.
Taxify has described finding new drivers as the most important factor behind its growth. "Today more than 100,000 drivers are active on the Taxify platform globally and we are awaiting new drivers to join us in all countries. It is Taxify's aim to be the best platform for drivers for earning additional money in a flexible manner," Villig said.
The launch in Paris was done with more than 5,000 registered drivers and 10,000 residents of the city having downloaded the app. Founded in 2013, Taxify is active in 28 cities in 20 different countries. It employs a workforce of over 200.
Taxify announces expansion to a new city or a new country every month. In August 2017 Taxify started cooperation with the world's biggest ridesharing platform Didi Chuxing, which made an investment in Taxify and supports the company's further growth in Africa and Europe.
The Taxify app is available for devices running iOS and Android operating systems.
