Latvia’s Ecolines bus operator invests EUR 4 mln in bus park

BC, Riga, 07.04.2017.Print version
Latvia’s Ecolines bus operator is upgrading its bus park and has purchased ten new buses using a loan from Swedbank. The company has invested EUR 4 mln in the project, writes LETA.

The new buses will be used on routes to Western Europe, in the Baltic states and on Latvia’s domestic routes, the company said in a statement.

All buses have ergonomic seats, and there is free-of-charge wifi and multimedia monitors with entertainment possibilities on the bus.

"We are upgrading our bus park every year and these are considerable investments. Financing from Swedbank allows us to do it in a short time period and at a larger amount than it would be possible if buying buses for our own resources," said Norma-A board chairman Andris Podgornijs.

Since 2014, Ecolines has purchased 31 new buses worth Eur 12 mln.

According to Firmals.lv business database, Norma-A, a company working with Ecolines brand, in 2015 generated EUR 18.84 mln in sales and earned EUR 753,817 in profit. The company belongs to Podgornijs (55.3%) and Jegors Ribzamens (44.7%).
