Estonian startup Jobbatical raises EUR 1 mln

Australian venture capital fund Airtree has invested one million U.S. dollars in Jobbatical, an Estonian startup that helps travel enthusiasts get mostly fixed-term technology jobs around the world, reports LETA/BNS.

Jobbatical plans to use the investment to expand its operations on the southeast Asian and Australian markets, told co-founder of the company Karoli Hindrikus. The company has one person working in Singapore in the southeast Asia and Pacific reasion, but is planning to open a bigger center in the region, she added.


In March Jobbatical raised 1.9 mln euros in a funding round led by LocalGlobe, the venture fund set up by Saul Klein and his father Robin Klein last year, Union Square Ventures, and Smartcap.


Jobbatical was founded by Karoli Hindriks, Ronald Hindriks and Allan Maeots in 2014. During their first year of business the Jobbatical database and platform were used by more than 1,200 businesses in more than 40 countries. The total number of applications filed surpassed 7,000 and 300 of them led to an employment relationship.
