Vilkyskiu dairy ready to launch exports to China

BC, Vilnius, 10.05.2016.Print version
Vilkyskiu Pienine, a major Lithuanian dairy producer, is ready to launch exports to China, but several bureaucratic hurdles are yet to be removed, the company's chief executive officer said, cites LETA/BNS.

"We can't export yet, because the documents haven't been finalized (by the state) yet. We are in the home stretch," Vilkyskiu Pienine CEO Gintaras Bertasius, who attended the Sial China food exhibition at the end of last week, told BNS.

"There was interest in our dried products and mozzarella cheese," he added.

According to the CEO, it is not clear yet when the first batch of around 20 tons of Vilkyskiu Pienine's products will leave for China, because the filling out of forms at the state level takes much time.

Jonas Milius, director of the Lithuanian State Food and Veterinary Service, confirmed to BNS that all the necessary permits for dairy product exports had been approved at t the state level, saying that the only obstacle was that milk processors were slow to register their company numbers in China.

Bertasius said, however, that Vilkyskiu Pienine had registered its number.

Lithuania received all the necessary documents for dairy product exports to China in mid-April.
