In Latvia, construction grew by 4.9% in Q3
Construction production volume at current prices accounted for EUR 585.7 mln.

In the 3rd quarter of 2015 as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, construction of residential buildings increased by 2.3%. In the grouping of non-residential buildings growth was recorded in construction of hotels and similar buildings – of 76.4%, in construction of industrial buildings and warehouses – of 27.8%, as well as in construction of office buildings – of 10.7%. In turn, drop was observed in construction of school, university and research buildings – of 46.5%, and in construction of wholesale and retail trade buildings – of 20.3%.
According to calendar adjusted data at constant prices, construction of civil engineering structures increased by 15.3%. Of which construction of harbours, waterways, dams and other water works grew by 27.0%, construction of highways, streets, roads, airfield runways, railways – by 14.9%. In turn, construction of bridges and tunnels decreased by 46.8%, and construction of main pipelines, communications and power transmission lines declined by 6.7%.
In the 3rd quarter of 2015 as compared to the 2nd quarter of this year construction production volume according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices increased by 2.7%; of which construction of buildings – by 1.4% and construction of civil engineering structures – by 3.5%.
During the first nine months of 2015 as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year construction production volume, according to calendar adjusted data at constant prices increased by 1.0%. Of which construction of buildings dropped by 6.4%, while construction of civil engineering structures grew by 9.6%.

In the 3rd quarter of 2015, 638 building permits1 were granted for the construction, capital repairs, reconstruction and restoration of single dwelling buildings with the total floor space of 120.4 thsd m2. It is 87 permits fewer for the intended floor space smaller by 19.4 % as compared to the 3rd quarter of 2014. Of the total number of granted building permits in the 3rd quarter of this year, 432 building permits were granted for construction of new buildings with the intended floorspace of 81.6 thsd m2.
87 building permits for the total intended floorspace of 223.4 thsd m2 were issued for construction of industrial buildings and warehouses, and compared to the 3rd quarter of 2014 it is 46 building permits fewer, while the intended floorspace has increased by 25.9%.
45 building permits were granted for construction of new industrial buildings and warehouses with the intended floorspace of 68.4 thsd m2.
