Over the last 5 years, the business startup platform Commercialisation Reactor, in collaboration with scientists and entrepreneurs in Latvia, have created 30 innovative companies (startups), whose business is based on new technological solutions. A total of about 3 million has been invested into the new science companies of the Commercialisation Reactor in the first four years, but the last year investments were much larger – about 2 million euros, reports BC the press service of Commercialisation Reactor.

"Certainly Latvia is on track to global leadership in the field of technology commercialization. Over the past five years about 30 newly created innovative startups have created a value of more than 20 million euros and the worth of the companies continues to rise rapidly. Business and scientific excellence is the ultimate combination of a new, post-industrial economic asset, proven by investors' interest in these companies. Latvia is one of the first European countries where the commercialization of scientific achievements is being implemented since 2009, when Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) started supporting the program," Edgar Grant, the Representative of the Commercialization Reactor, advises.

The Latvian innovative business leaders that attract local and foreign investment, are the primary factor in the new, science-based business era in Latvia and the Baltics. They are the ones who sign cooperation agreements with the world's leading companies. Mostly they are young people with a good education and experience in business management. They are supported by teams of scientists from around the world, presenting the commercialization of the latest technological solutions, including the Latvian scientists from the Riga Technical University (RTU) and the Institute of Electronics and Computer Science (EDI).
