The EU recorded 1,166,482 new passenger cars in April

New passenger car registrations in Latvia increased by 16% in April 2015, which is the ninth highest growth among all European countries covered by the latest report of the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (EAMA).

The largest growth was recorded in Iceland – 90.8%, Greece – 43.3%, Italy – 24.2%, Lithuania – 23.2%, and Hungary – 22.1%. Estonia registered a 0.9% reduction in new car registrations in April.

 

25 countries recorded growth in new passenger car registrations, while five registered reduction.

 

The report summarizes data on all the European Union's (EU) member states, except Malta. The report contains information also on the EFTA states – Switzerland, Norway, and Iceland.

 

Latvia registered a total of 1,238 new passenger cars in April, as compared with 1,067 in the respective month of 2014.

 

The largest fall in new passenger car registrations was recorded in Belgium – by 3.6%, and Cyprus – by 3.5%.

 

A total of 1,209,551 new passenger cars were registered in European countries, which were covered by the report. This is 6.9% more than in April 2014.

 

The EU recorded 1,166,482 new passenger cars in April, which is 6.9% more than in the respective month of 2014. EU passenger car registrations recorded growth for the 20th consecutive month.
