E-residency application in Estonia becomes easier from April

Print versionThe Estonian government approved a decree on Thursday according to which the digital ID card of an e-resident can be received with one customer contact from April 2015, LETA/Public Broadcasting reports.

This means that the potential e-resident does not need to personally go to the police and border guard or an Estonian foreign representation to submit an application but the application can be submitted electronically.
In this case, one has to go to the state institution personally just to collect the document.
Therefore, the government decree will be amended to enable filling in the electronic application of a document proving the identity of a foreigner in English and Russian, not just in Estonian. Currently this option is only available for a paper form applications.
