Estonian and Finnish officials did not reach an agreement on the location of the regional liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal at the negotiations held in Brussels at the beginning of this week, LETA/Estonian Public Broadcasting reports.

Finland explains the wish to get the LNG terminal into the Finnish Inkoo with the fact that in Finland, gas consumption is several times higher than in Estonia, the channel cited Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat.

The Inkoo terminal could cost up to 450 million euro, the newspaper claims.

Estonian Economy and Communications Minister Juhan Parts says that it would be best to build the LNG terminal in Paldiski, North West Estonia. There it would be developed by the Alexela concern member Balti Gaas, which evaluates the cost of the project at 301 million EUR.

The European Council should make the decision about the location of the Baltic states and Finland's joint regional LNG terminal in May.
