Investigation: main Vilniaus Energija biofuels supplier earned over EUR 15.3 mln

Prosecutor of the Prosecutor General's Office Simonas Minkevicius confirmed that the analysis received from State Tax Inspectorate (VMI) proves that the company Bionovus that was supplying biofuel to Vilniaus Energija over 5 years earned enormous profits, informs LETA/ELTA.
"The investigation is in progress, the activities of 7 companies and its directors related with Vilniaus Energija are audited. The current findings suggest that virtually all purchases are made from the same companies, they have large profits and later they in the form of dividends through the chain companies are paid specifically to persons managing Vilniaus Energija activities," said Minkevicius in a press conference, Friday.
The pre-trial investigation was launched after the suspicion that the executives of Vilniaus Energija are abusing their position in order to increase the prices of heat by violating the legitimate interests of heat consumers.
"We saw the signs of abuse and fraud in such activities, " said the prosecutor.
