The most talented students present their ideas about the development of Riga Freeport

Print versionThe third creative project competition “Port for the City”, organised by the Freeport of Riga Authority for students, will end on Thursday, 10 April. The most interesting competition ideas include both proposals for the development of a container terminal and a plan for facilitating the Freeport’s local communication and public involvement, informed BC port’s press service.

The best student works will be chosen by evaluating the prepared presentations and the ability of the youth to substantiate the significance of their projects.
The competition takes place in two stages. In the first stage students submitted papers on different port-related topics. In turn the finale, which will occur on 10 April, will be a team competition where authors of the best projects will compete by presenting and defending their ideas in front of a competent jury.
“This is already the third competition organised by the Freeport of Riga for students, and as we are getting acquainted with the new projects submitted for the competition, we always discover that young people are capable of coming up with new and progressive ideas to increase the competitiveness of the port and integrate it into the economy, daily life, and the cultural space. This is great news, since it proves that Latvia has a lot of intelligent and motivated young people who are ready to show that they are also capable of applying their academic knowledge to real life by solving specific tasks related to entrepreneurship, port development, logistics and economic processes,” says Ivars Jakovels, the Head of the Competition Jury and Board Member of the Freeport of Riga.
