Teachers' minimum monthly salary to be raised to LVL 270

Print versionTeachers' minimum monthly wage is to be raised from the current LVL 245 to LVL 270 on September 1 this year, the Education and Science Ministry's Communication Department informed LETA.

The pending amendments to the regulations on teachers' salaries stipulate that minimum monthly salaries for educational establishments' directors, their deputies and teachers will be raised 10%, and new salary levels will be introduced depending on the number of pupils and students in a given educational institution.
Furthermore, teachers who have obtained 4th and 5th degree in the European Social Fund-financed project for improving teachers' competitiveness will be paid salary supplements of 8% and 12% respectively.
The relevant amendments to the laws and regulations are being drawn up currently; the amendments are yet to be endorsed by the government.
