Sick children in schools and kindergartens have resulted in four schools and three kindergartens in Tallinn transitioning to distance learning -- according to the Health Board, the measures taken so far in the capital have been very welcome, the Estonian daily Postimees writes, cites LETA/BNS.

As of Wednesday morning, there have been cases of coronavirus in four schools and three kindergartens in Tallinn, including eight in the Manni kindergarten outbreak. The overarching reason for the cases is the participation of a person with symptoms in the activities of the school or kindergarten.

"Thus, we must reiterate -- in case of symptoms of the disease, people must stay home and consult a family doctor," Health Board spokesperson Eike Kingsepp told Postimees.

The Health Board is keeping an eye on the situation. "We definitely appreciate the initiative of the Tallinn city government in ensuring a healthy living and learning environment," Kingsepp added, because the coronavirus, like many other infectious diseases, spreads through close contacts, and reducing close contacts therefore also helps to slow down the virus.
