Estonia: Mainor to develop EUR 17 mln education complex at Ulemiste City

BC, Tallinn, 13.08.2020.Print version
Mainor Ulemiste, developer of Ulemiste City in Tallinn, is set to build two school buildings and a kindergarten in the heart of Ulemiste City for an estimated 17 mln euros, the news portal of public broadcaster ERR reported.

Construction is to start next spring and the schools are expected to open their doors in fall 2022. The new properties will serve as home for Kalli-Kalli kindergarten, Emili Elementary School and the International School of Tallinn.

The complex will be located on Valukoja Street, next to the existing Ulemiste Health Center. In addition to the buildings, a sports ground will be constructed.

The kindergarten and the schools belong to Mainor Group. The developer of the education complex is Mainor Ulemiste, a company of Mainor Group.

Ursel Velve, head of innovation of Mainor Ulemiste, said the plan to develop new education buildings has been on the table for a long time because the kindergarten and schools are running out of room.

"At this rapid growth, the current building on Keevise 2 is not large enough for them," Velve was quoted by the English-language news portal of ERR as saying.

Both local and international establishments will move into the new complex with the buildings capable of accommodating up to 850 children, Velve said. Up to 400 students of the International School of Tallinn will study at Ulemiste, up to 300 in Emili Elementary and up to 100 children in Kalli-Kalli kindergarten. An additional daycare service will be offered at the complex for 50 children.

Besides, Mainor is about to open a 13-story, 81-apartment building in Ulemiste City next week. Apartments are primarily meant for short and long-term rentals for companies in the campus. The building, named Lurich, also houses a store, restaurant, sports club and health center.
