The memorandum of understanding was signed by Lukas, Lithuanian Minister of Culture Mindaugas Kvietkauskas and Minister of Culture of Latvia Nauris Puntulis. Topics to be discussed at the meeting also include cultural cooperation between the Baltic states during the post-pandemic period and strengthening the Baltic Culture Fund.

"The size of financial support for culture by the Estonian state caused some positive excitement. I will separately raise with my colleagues the concerns of event organizers regarding ticket buyback conditions for cancelled or postponed shows and concerts. Experiences need to be exchanged as we need to make sure that high quality concerts by top performers will be held in Estonia also in the future and that they are not relocated to Finland, Latvia or Lithuania in search of more favorable conditions," Lukas said.

By signing the memorandum of understanding on the Baltic Assembly Prize for Literature, the parties agreed to increase the prestige and visibility of the award.

"The Baltic states' cultural cooperation is unique both at an international level as well as within the three states. Successful joint endeavors like the exhibition of Baltic surrealists' work in the world famous Musee d'Orsay in Paris, the pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale and participation in the London Book Fair show that the sum of 1+1+1 is definitely bigger than three," Lukas said.

Later on Friday, the three ministers will take part in the opening of the exhibition "Wild Souls. Symbolism in the Art of the Baltic States" at the Lithuanian National Gallery of Art in Vilnius and visit an exhibition by Saskia Boddeke and Peter Greenaway titled "Why is it hard to love?" at MO Museum.
