Covid-19 Latvia: Government supports canceling exams for 9th-graders; 12th-graders will have to take their exams
BC, Riga, 30.04.2020.Print version
The government on Thursday approved the Education and Science Ministry's proposal that school leaving examinations for 9th-grade students be not held this year; 12th-graders will nevertheless have to take the exams, informed LETA/BNS.
State examinations for 9th-graders will be cancelled this year, except for the state language examinations for those minority school students who want to take the exams.
Examinations for 12th-graders will be held from June 2 to July 30. They will have to take a foreign language exam, an exam in Latvian and a mathematics exam. Those students who need to take one or two more exams in other subjects in order to enroll in a university will also be able to do so.
If the state of emergency is extended past May 12, the examinations will also be postponed.
